Talisman, The Blood Moon Expansion.

 Hey guys, heres yet another Talisman Expansion unboxing for you. This one is called "The Blood Moon"
As always with Fantasy Flight Games, this box has amazing artwork. Take a look for yourselves.

In the box we have the usual nice amount of contents. We can see what you get in the Talisman The Blood Moon here:

As you can see theres a lot in there again! Theres the obvious instruction sheet, extra cards, alternative ending cards, character cards and models, and the FFG catalogue. ( i have hundred of these things now!)
Lets start by looking at the extra cards you get in the set.

In this set we have 4 sets of extra cards, Theres the extra adventure cards which are always good to add more variation to the main game, Theres extra spell cards, as with the adventure cards these add a lot more variation to the game. Some lycanthrope cards, these signify whether or not your character has been turned into a "lycanthrope" and a single Night and day card. This card is interesting as depending on whether or not its night or day, affects various things such as enemy strength etc.
Next up, the alternative ending cards.

 The three alternative endings in this box are: The blood moon werewolf, The horrible void (This ones nasty, as if you think you have won the game, you are actually instakilled!) and Lightbearers. These can add a different twist on the game, but i still prefer to play with the "dragon king card" from the dragon expansion.

Now its on to the meat of the expansion, The extra characters!

First up we have the Werewolf himself. This guy is another NPC in that hes activated much like the reaper from the reaper expansion. If he lands on you then you suffer the effects of him down to a dice roll... The model for this is nice and i notice its multipart and preassembled with a kind of glue! i wonder what it is!

Next up is the Graverobber. this guys very interesting due to his special ability to "rob" cards out of the discard pile. As per usual the art and sculpt are both very good.

Here we see the Vampire hunter. This lady appears very victorian, ive not had a chance to look at her card yet but again, good art and sculpting.

Heres the last character from the set, and in my opinion, the most uninspiring, the Doomsayer. I just dont really like the artwork or the concept of this guy, he reminds me of a mad max 3 character reject!

Hi guys, heres the first "proper" post of february 2013. Its time for another Talisman Unboxing.This time its the Expansion known as "The Sacred Pool", and not the Scared pool as some people mistakenly put it down as!

Anyway, heres a couple of shots of the as ever, gorgeous box art. I always like the feel of quality in FFG boxes, and this one is no different.

So after opening the box, we can see all the contents,

In this set we have the usual extra rules leaflet, 5 packs of extra cards, 3 alternative endings, 4 new characters and of course, a FFG catalogue!

New Card Deck Expansions.

 First up the cards, we get a few more adventure cards (I have hundreds of these now) The more adventure cards you have the more varied a game you will have so these are always welcome. More spell cards, as wiuth the adventure cards, these add more variation to the main game. Some alignment cards now including neutral alignment. (This expansion deals with alignments within the game and gives extra cards and events to go with it) A deck of stable cards, these comprise of your Warhorses, muels and Riding horses Etc. And some quest reward cards. these are optional instead of recieving Talismans from the warlocks quests. As per usual the quality of the artwork on these cards is OUTSTANDING.


Next up the new alternative ending cards,

New alternative Endings.

In this set we get the following new endings, Judgement day, The Demon Lord, and the titular, Sacred pool.
In the game you can pick one to play with, or just do random select, which makes things rather interesting indeed!

Next up the new characters.

The Cleric

First up is the Cleric, They have gone with a female cleric which is interesting as they are normally men IIRC in this type of setting. The artwork and character sculpt are both very good.

The Magus

Next up is the Magus, Wow, this guys is VERY interesting. a real change from most of the characters and he is sitting in a chair! He reminds me a bit of Xerxes from 300!

The Chivalric Knight

 Here we see the Chivalric knight, one of a few mounted characters in the game. Most people are quite pleased when they draw a mounted character. A free horse!

The Dread Knight.

Lastly we have the Dread Knight, Hes a lot like the Chivalric Knight, but this guy is the EVIL version.

Thats it for the Sacred pool, Theres a new Expansion out in the last week or so, i might have to aquire that also so keep an eye out for it on here!

Hi Ladies and Gentlemen, i thought it was high time i got this unboxing done. ive had the photos on my hard drive for a good couple of weeks and feel i need to get it out there!

 Lets begin!

 

Here we can see the entire contents of the box. Dont ever forget you get the Fantasy Flight game mini catalogue! it shows more interesting games! Everythings really nicely packed in. even the inside of the box looks good with the purple monotone effect.

 

 Heres the extension board piece itself. For some reason blogger decides its a good idea to flip my phots vertically. today its done it a couple of times again.. If anyone can tell me why, and how to remedy it, i would be most appreciative. The board itself looks good, the artwork as per usual with this game is AMAZING.

 Here we have the 3 alternative ending cards provided with the game (Albeit upside down..) Theres the hand of doom, Battle Royale and the Eagle King. (hes weak)

Heres a shot of 3 of the new characters, theres the amazon here on the left, the Sprite in the middle and the Alchemist on the end. Look how tiny the sprite is!

 Another shiot of both the Alchemist and the Sprite, but also in the shot is another new character, the Highlander! (sadly not immortal) He's probably fighting for "His Freedom!"

More new characters here, the sculpts are quite good for their size, especially as they are just board pieces. On the left is the Vampiress. The middle is the Rogue. The one on the right is the Amazon.

Heres a little group shot of all the new characters from The Highland Expansion.

Here are two of the new character cards, both the rogue and the alchemist. The Alchemist gets to turn objects into gold. not fun if he starts doing it to talismans which are rare in the game!

Heres the Sprite and the Vampiress, two of the smallest models in the game.

Here he is again, The Highlander, and The Amazon. i',m not a fan of the Highlanders Kilt myself.

Here is the rule book for The Highland Expansion. Its a well laid out piece with lots of nice pieces of art. I would not recommend reading it upside down like this though!

There are cards in the expansion, this one has 4 new types. The Highland Deck, Relic cards, More spells, and more Adventure cards.

Heres some of the new spells. I always like looking at the well drawn art on each one.

And finally heres the board piece laid out with the main board itself. Looking rather massive there now! Cant wait to get some games in!
