Raven guard fire raptor WIP

Raven guard fire raptor

Hi guys. Well i am still working on the fire raptor. At the moment I'm just waiting on the metal base coat to dry and then I shall give it a wash before brightening up.

I had an accident last night with an exploding vallejo white paint. That was a real pain to clean up! In hoping to have this finished in the next week or so :-)

Raven Guard fire raptor WIP

Hi guys, well, this has to be the worst fitting kit I've ever built. Not one part goes together smoothly.
It is however fun being such a challenge and I hope to have the fire raptor assembled tonight!
More coming soon!

Rainbow Warriors Tactical squad WIP 9-12-14

Hi guys, so I'm continuing work on the rainbow warriors tactical squad. I've literally done nothing apart from the metals and some base coating of the tactical squad sergeant. I'm going to do all the highlighting and have it finished up to the base before i continue with the next one as i thing its a little less boring than working on the same part over 5 minis. I've done the factory line method. i get bored. fast.

New X-Wing Board, Scenery Ideas and Purchases.

 New X-wing board Scenery project.

Hi guys, you probably saw my finished x-wing space board HERE but it looks a little plain.. what it really needs is some scenery.

In the basic core game box for X-Wing, you get some card cut out asteroids, which IMO dont cut it in a 3d miniatures game so what we need are 3d pieces!

Thus what i have done is purchased some interesting things, Heres what i picked up:

Lots of new stuff!
In this little lot is a few polystyrene balls to make asteroids and of course, The Death Star (obviously not in scale!) and a few asteroids (Theres some big balls not shown in the picture)
What i am looking forward to is making a wrecked YT-1300 out of the millenium falcon kit, this thing is ALMOST the same scale as X-wing. I think its at 1/230 and x-wing is 1/250.

I look forward to getting this going.

More photos as i get cracking!

Have you made any scenery for your X-Wing game yet?

X-Wing Hoth Themed Board WIP Update

Hoth Battle Board for X-Wing Update

Hi guys, this evening after watching a recording of the most Excellent Ripper street from BBC 1 (If you have not yet seen it you really must!) i thought i would share in my Hoth themed DIY project update.

The Imperial AT-AT Walkers at the Battle of Ho...
The Imperial AT-AT Walkers at the Battle of Hoth were created using go motion photography. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

This evening consisted of putting the first layer of "Snow" on the board. This "Snow" is woodland scenics "Soft Flake snow" or something like that..

The first job consisted of finding the things i would need to accomplish said project, The boards, a pump spray bottle, some PVA glue and of course the Snow itself.

Then after deciding i did not want to glue Snow to the table top, i put a waterproof protective covering down, or what i like to call, "opened up bin liner."

Then using my Alchemical wizardry, i concocted an amazing mixture, PVA mixed with water, to be later sprayed onto the boards.

The boards were then sprayed with the secret PVA and water mix

Then the snow was sprinkled on, much like putting salt on your chips. (Actually if you put this much salt on your chips you would probably suffer a heart attack or two!)

The boards were then spread around the room on whatever was to hand (Chairs in this case) for them to dry.

After realising it was going to take ages to dry, and needing the chairs to sit on, the boards were moved to a new location.

Next up, another layer of snow!

How are your X-wing boards coming along? Have you made one yet?

Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures Game, Hoth Battle Board Update

 X-Wing, Hoth Battle Board Update.

Hoth Hangar

Hi guys, i have been doing a little more work on my X-wing miniatures game Hoth Battle Board,

Unluckily for me i was trying to do this with a sore burn on my hand. Ouch!

Burnt Hand

So far all i had managed to do was find four boards to make a 3 foot by 3 foot square and then cover them in a little filler for texture.

Board ready for sanding and removal of sellotape

Well now the filler has dried and i can move on to the next stage.

All i had to do was peel of that sellotape i put round the edges of the boards and then sand the excess filler off.
Sellotape removed!

Luckily i had a big roll of 80 grit sandpaper laying around in the cupboard for the last 60 or so years and finally i get to use it!

Sandpaper, the bane of DIY

Snow dust all over the floor!

After sanding down the boards for what felt like an eternity, i am now ready to apply the Snow!

Boards all ready for the snow to be added

Have any of you guys played X-Wing yet? What do you think?

WIP: Alien 3 Themed Imperial Guard Company Command Squad

Alien 3 Wayland Yutani Colonial Marine Themed Company Command Squad

Hi guys, following on from my other Aliens colonial marines themed Imperial Guard, i found this old squad, They have not yet been painted (i REALLY need to get these done sometime) but are still in one of my boxes somewhere.

I wanted to do something aliens themed for these guys, yet not your typical colonial marine.

So what i did was base them off these guys.

Wayland Yutani Alien 3 Marine

Wayland Yutani "Employees"

These guys are the Wayland Yutani Enforcer Colonial Marines types. We dont see them a lot in Alien 3 itself, they always looked to me like they were wearing cricket pads as armour!

I used a few Kroot shoulder pads and odds and ends, and of course the Hasslefree Pulse Rifles.

I was really pleased with the final result.

What do you think? how would you have done the conversions?
